MOSCOW, Aug 12 (PRIME) -- The U.S. should not control the system of domain name management fully, Russia’s Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday at a meeting.
“I’ll remind you what everyone knows perfectly well. The U.S. fully controls the system of domain name management, the IP address definition. It happened like this. As a matter of fact, if we can speak directly and openly, it should not be like this,” Medvedev said.
He also calls for updating the concept of safe Internet.
“Nevertheless, taking into consideration relevance of the problem and the recent events…we should update the draft concept that our country designed and, certainly, we should plan its discussion on the international floors in various formats. We should give an impetus to ensure the government’s sovereign right to manage the Internet in the national information space, in our national segment,” the official said.
He also reiterated that the country adopted the law on creation of the national system of network traffic routing to safeguard work of domestic Internet resources in case of an attack.
